The Swing set

Last year Rodney sold our swing set.  It was old and leaning a little, and we didn't really feel safe having our kids on it let alone any neighbors that would come over.

This was when we first moved in.
When they were taking it away Landon was surprisingly not sad, he just told his dad that he wanted a yellow slide anyway.  I have to say I was a little heart broken.  So I set out on a mission to find the perfectly priced swing set on KSL.  It took some time but I found it.  I re-stained it, and of course Rodney turned it into a project.  We moved it into the garden, so branches needed to be cut, a short wall was made to go around it, we added gravel, and Rodney made a new roof.  But here it is in all it's glory.

He didn't get a yellow slide, but I think he likes it.

Lincoln's Birthday

My baby is one!! I can't believe it went by so quickly.  I'm not sure I'm ready for him to be so big so fast.

For his birthday we decided to decorate his cake like Henry Hugglemoster from Disney Jr.  He loves this show, when it comes on he stops everything he is doing to watch it.  I ended up making him a cake to destroy and the rest of us would eat cupcakes.

These would not be ordinary cupcakes, oh no.  I had to make them from scratch.  The cake and the cupcakes turned out great, thanks to Landon for helping me bake and decorate the cupcakes, and my mom for helping decorate the cake.

What would a Birthday be without some presents.

And of course the all important cake eating/destroying.

Happy Birthday, my little monster!

Bear Lake

We have some friends that have a condo in Bear Lake, that invited us to spend the weekend up there.
We happily packed up the car and kids and drove up to Bear Lake.  Neither Rodney or myself had ever been before.  I'm not exactly sure why, it's not that far and after going we both decided this was something that we might need to do annually.

The first day we were there we just went to the pool, that's in the community where the condo is.  That night we hung out and played games.  It was nice to relax with some good friends.

The next morning we headed off to the beach.  Landon and the girls built a sand castle and played in the water. The water was chilly but after you got numb to it, you were fine.

We had so much fun!  We can't wait to do it again.

Independance Day

I love the 4th of July for lots of reasons.  Mostly because I am grateful to live in this country.  How fortunate we are to be able to enjoy the freedoms that we have.  I will be forever grateful to those who fought for and died for this great cause.

Our family has some what of a tradition.  We go to Jordan High School and sit on the hill that faces State Street and watch the Fireworks.  This year was no different.   Lincoln got tired but he fell asleep, thanks to Grandma.  Landon was great, he sat with Mimi most of the time.  It was nice to have family around and enjoy being outside and not melting.

11th Anniversary

Rodney took a few days off of work to celebrate and spend time as a family.  We had so much fun!  The first day was actually our anniversary and Rodney had planned a picnic lunch up American Fork Canyon.  After lunch we went for a little walk and then drove the Alpine Loop.  I love that we live so close to the mountains, they are so beautiful.  Even if rattlesnakes live there, I will just stay on the path.  Thanks for the warning.

Friday we went to the plash park in Highland.  Landon was a little apprehensive but by the end he was running through the middle of the fountain.  Lincoln isn't afraid of anything, he just goes right for it.  It was nice to get wet, especially since it's been so hot this summer.

Later Friday my parents took the boys over night so Rodney and I could enjoy and night out.

Rodney made reservations to the Roof.  He tried to take me to our favorite place, but we found out that the restaurant closed.  So sad, we love and miss you Zinn's Bistro!!!  Dinner was still yummy, we ate until we couldn't eat anymore.  We thought it would be a good idea to take a walk, so we went to the new mall, City Center.  After our walk we decided it was early so we went to the movies and saw the second Star Trek movie.  We didn't get out until midnight...I don't remember the last time I was out that late.  It was weird to have an empty, quite house, but nice to sleep in.  We were able to fit a trip to the temple before picking up the kiddos. I always love the peaceful feeling there.  I wish I was better about going more often.

I have never loved my husband more than I do today.  I hope that our marriage continues to strengthen and grow.  Heavenly Father has blessed me beyond measure.
